UL client test data program
Nedap participates in UL Client Test Data Program
NEDAP Light Controls has been assessed and found eligible to participate in the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) ‘Clients Test Data Program’ (CTDP) for the following safety standards
- UL935 Standard for Fluorescent Lamp Ballasts.
- UL1029 Standard for High Intensity Discharge Lamp Ballasts and
- UL60950 Standard for Information Technology Equipment Including Electrical Business Equipment
- UL6500 Standard for Audio/Video and Musical Instrument Apparatus for Household, Commercial and Similar General Use.
- UL60601- 1 Standard for Medical Electrical Equipment, Part 1: General Requirements for Safety.
What’s our mutual benefit?
Nedap has applied for the UL ‘Clients Test Data Program’ to reduce time and the accompanying costs for the approvals for their Lamp Drivers and PowerSupplies. Especially as we have to shorten the time to market for your products, improved lead times for safety approvals are needed.
When required, we combine testing with the customer’s end-use equipment or perform the complete evaluation. Before getting on the program it is necessary that the applicable UL Engineering Department reviews and documents very important areas like Standards, Personnel’s knowledge, Testing Facilities and Calibration of testing equipment.
Every year reassessment and verification is necessary. This means that Nedap’s engineers are aware of the latest updates of the applicable standards and therefore we can advise our customers as best as possible.
UL’s Clients Test Data Program
Being on the UL Program means that Nedap generates its own reports and test data. Afterwards, only spot-checking by a UL engineer is performed. The acceptance of Nedap’s data under the program is based on UL’s understanding that the testing done by Nedap is in accordance with the effective requirements of the applicable UL standard and is consistent with UL test methods.
Confidence in the accuracy of the data is gained by appropriately documenting the test methods used and results obtained so that they will be repeatable if the test is re-conducted using the same equipment.
Also, all testing and evaluation should be shown to be the same as if the product was submitted to UL for complete testing. Finally, a random spot-checking of the test data is intended to be conducted, which ensures Nedap’s continued familiarity with UL requirements and the guidelines of the Client’s Test Data Program.
cUL
Through this above mentioned scheme we will acquire an UL Recognition mark including the cUL mark for Canada.
