Explosion safe

Every employee wants to work in a safe environment. Small details can be vitally important, especially when people are working with explosive or combustible substances. Nedap Light Controls develops and produces electronic lamp drivers which are used in light fixtures for what are known as risk environments.

In some sectors – the petrochemical sector, oil platforms etc. – the people have to be extra careful on all sides. This is especially true for the light fixtures, because the smallest spark could cause a chain reaction. Special about electricity is that is can spark, and moisture can accelerate that. In some situations, an incident of this type, can be catastrophic.

This means that any and every possible risk must be addressed. Not only preventing sparks, but also ensuring that the fixture does not heat up, because this also could cause an explosion. The light fixtures used in environments of this type must be absolutely safe: all possible risks must be eliminated.

The Nedap lamp drivers are built into fixtures which can be used without any problem in areas (up to Zone 1) in which explosive gases or vapours can occur. These fixtures prevent uncontrolled ignition in an extremely safe manner. Of course these products meet the most important international laws and regulations.
