Assimilation

In the horticultural sector Light plays an extremely important part. Artificial light is needed to ensure year-round production of several flowers, plants and vegetables. Nedap Light Controls has developed special electronic lamp drivers for assimilation lamps.

These electronic lamp drivers will replace the traditional copper and iron ballast, saving weight and volume. And even more important, power losses are considerably reduced. The Nedap electronic lamp driver has a constant high Power Factor (PF) of > 0.98. This is considerably better than the conventional copper and iron ballast, where the PF decreases from 0.92 to 0.84. As a result of the constant high PF the difference between the electric power consumption and the apparent power is small. This results in a much better efficiency, when Nedap lamp drivers are used! Also the light output is much more constant as voltage losses in long cables in the greenhouses are compensated.

The Nedap electronic lamp driver can be dimmed which will enable growers to save energy and still have an optimum light distribution compared to systems where groups of lamps are switched off.
